Absolutely Everything You Need to Know About Hiring A Crane From Dewsbury & Proud

The Cranes Interest Group ‘Best Practice Guide’ has been written to ensure compliance with ‘LOLER’ and ‘PUWER’ conditions of Hire/Contract/Insurance Cover.

STEP 1

You need to decide if you want a CPA Crane Hire or Contract Lift.

Basic Difference

  • CPA Crane Hire – Crane and Operator are YOUR responsibility if things go wrong.
  • CPA Contract Lift – Crane, Appointed Person and Operator are Dewsbury & Prouds responsibility if things go wrong.

STEP 2

If CPA Hire Conditions apply YOU need to have sufficient insurance to cover the following and YOU need to nominate the Appointed Person to whom our driver should report on site.

Loss of damage to our plant whilst on site.
Continuing hire charges whilst the plant is off the road for repairs following damage.
Injury to driver / operator.
Injury to other parties, including damage to their property, arising from the crane operations.
Loss or damage to the goods being lifted.

STEP 3

If CPA Contract Lift conditions apply, we will confirm that the we supply the Appointed Person to control the lift and we will provide the following insurance cover.

Loss of or damage to plant caused solely by the our negligence in the performance of the lifting contract.
Loss of or damage to other property caused solely by the our negligence in the performance of the lifting contract subject to:
A maximum liability of £10,000 in respect of goods lifted.
A maximum liability of £2,000,000 in respect of loss or damage to other property and injury to persons. If additional cover is required then this should be arranged by YOU or can be arranged by us and re-charged to you accordingly.

We will charge you for the insurance cover included within the CPA Contract Lift Conditions.

STEP 4

Once we have established the conditions and insurance requirements then we will fax those details to you for your signature confirming this before we send the crane.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot rely on a signature on a time sheet on site to establish conditions of hire.
